Why would someone need a remote swear in?

May 3, 2022

Remote swear ins are administered by a Florida Notary Public for the purposes of an individual taking an oath for testimony, deposition, arbitration, or public hearing, physically located in another area than the Florida Notary Public, using audio and video communication.

Remote swear ins became effective in Florida on March 18, 2020 pursuant to the Florida Supreme Court Emergency Administrative Order No. AOSC20-16.  Remote swear ins became permanent in Florida as of January 1, 2022, pursuant to Florida Statute 117.231.

Remote swear ins are increasing important and needed now that most short hearings, depositions and or arbitrations are being conducted remotely for health, safety and/or convenience.  Therefore, attorneys, court reporters and other legal professionals may require a Florida Notary Public to conduct an oath for individuals not physically present at the time the oath is being taken.

The question we get asked the most is “Are your notaries eligible to conduct a remote swear in?” and the answer is “YES”!  We conduct remote swear ins for individuals physically located anywhere in the world.  We can provide Certificates of swear-in upon request.
